Will you be one of the 2.5 million brides to walk down the aisle this year? If so then chances are the stress involved in planning a wedding is in full swing. There is so much that goes into planning a wedding, but don’t neglect one of the most important things of all…you!!! Every bride wants to look and feel her best on the day of her wedding so here is a complete time line to get yourself ready for the big day!
wedding6-12 Months before the wedding-
Now is a great time to start thinking about your skin and how you want it to glow the day of your wedding! Not only your face, but your whole body. Start with regular monthly facials to focus on deep cleaning, exfoliation and hydration. If you’re trying to clear specific issues such as acne, pigmentation, or fine lines and wrinkles, consider doing light chemical peels to get your skin in it’s best shape ever. At this point it is a great idea to invest in a quality skin care system that you can also do at home as maintenance along side your professional treatments. Your skin will have the best results with at home care, as well as professional care.
Now is also a great time to start thinking about your back, shoulders, and arms. All those areas that will be visible when you’re in your gown. Doing monthly body scrub treatments will keep skin soft, smooth and looking healthy!
3 Months before the wedding-
Start deciding on what you want your make up to look like. Meet with several makeup artists to see which one suits you best. Bring pictures of what you envision your look to be.  It’s usually a good idea to have one to two trial runs with your makeup to make sure that it’s perfect. Take pictures of yourself after each one and analyze them to see what you like and what you’d like to change. That way there are no surprises on the day of. At this point you will want to schedule your appointment for the day of the wedding. This is not something you want to procrastinate on.
If you’re considering a sunless tan for the wedding you will want to start doing trial runs for this also. No bride wants to walk down the aisle with streaks, or orange skin. Take into consideration the cut of your gown and the colors chosen for your makeup so that everything balances itself out.
Waxing! When to wax depends on how fast your hair grows and how sensitive your skin is. If you’ve never waxed before, now is a good time to start. You want to know ahead of time what potential reactions you could have, how red you’ll be, will you have temporary bumps or blemishes from waxing. Like your make-up and hairstyle, you will want to do a few trial runs with your wax as well. Your final waxing should be done no sooner and no less than 7-10 days before the wedding. Make sure you refrain from any antibiotics, steroids, retinols, and make sure that you are not sunburned, all which can cause irritation, and skin lifting. If a waxing mishap should occur, you’ve allowed yourself time for the skin to heal.

Start doing weekly manicures to get your hands ready for photos…and that new ring! Decide what you will be doing color? French? No-chip? That way you can be prepared. The same care and attention needs to be given to your feet as well!
Eye Lash Extensions      .
Brides love doing eyelash extension for several reasons. They look and feel natural, they last 2-3 weeks so they’re perfect not only for the wedding day, but also the honeymoon, you can choose different lengths for a more dramatic look and best of all they stay put if crying should occur, and since you won’t have to wear mascara you won’t have to worry about runny black streaks down your cheeks!
If you’re interested in having eye lash extensions done for your wedding, it is recommended that you have the initial lash set applied 2 weeks prior to your wedding and then have your final touch-up done 1-2 days before the wedding. Doing a trial run ensures that you don’t have any reactions  to the eyelash adhesive and that the length and look is exactly what you want!
Body
The body always looks it’s best on the outside when it looks good on the inside. While you should be doing the following year round, it’s imperative to do it consistently as your wedding day approaches.
Make sure to get plenty of water, plenty of sleep and try to keep stress to a minimum(I know that part seems impossible).
Load up on fruits and veggies, and lay off as much salt as possible to reduce any bloating and water weight gain.
Make time for exercise , meditation, or yoga to relax you.
The day of-

Let the Detox Begin February 5, 2014

Today marks the first day of  my annual detox process, and this time I wanted to share with everyone my personal experience. I think it’s important to give your body a chance to reset, clean up and start fresh. For whatever reason I seem to feel the most need to do my cleanse/detoxes  in February each year. I think it’s because I get a little stir crazy in winter, and loose motivation/drive, and feel like I have become lax in my diet. This process helps me emotionally and spiritually as well. In fact the first time I did a detox program 3 years ago was to help myself get through some very difficult and emotionally taxing issues.  Yes, it worked in both detoxing my body of built up waste, but it helped me detox myself of some emotional baggage as well.

Enough about my baggage, let’s get down to the nitty gritty of the whole process. Some important things to keep in mind when doing a good detox program: 1- You should never have to stop eating foods, you’re body still needs nutrients so simply drinking a liquid beverage for 3 days doesn’t really do the right things. 2- No good detox should keep you in the bathroom all day. Things like that are just putting you at risk for dehydration which can be very serious. 3-If you have never gone through a good detox program I suggest you do one with the supervision of a natural health practitioner of some sort who has experience.

The whole point of doing a detox is to restore optimal function to your organs that naturally detoxify you every day and to get rid of any waste build up that happens over time. This is important more and more as we are continually exposed to more and more harmful substances in our air, food and water supply. The main focus of my detox is to help my liver and kidneys function at optimal levels, as well as clean up any built up waste in my colon and lymphatic system as well.  I am combining an herbal detox kit with a few additional herbal products of my own and following a diet that will increase it’s optimal function.

*Please note that some of what I have included in my own program is products that I currently have at home and would like to use up. I am in no way getting paid to advertise brands, just utilizing some products that I have used before and found effective for me.

My personal program for the next 12 days:

1)Garden of Life Wild Rose Herbal Detox- consists of wild organic herbs only. Purpose is to detox the liver, kidneys and lymphatic systems.

2)Indole -3- Carbanol – supplement intended to help my body metabolize and get rid of excess estrogens. I’m one of those estrogen dominant people and have been feeling a touch “overly moody” lately.

3)Psyllium husk powder- source of fiber done at night to help grab onto all the nasty stuff my body is kicking out and excrete it in a safer way.

4)Oregano oil- useful as a natural antibiotic and also has been known to kill candida, which I am suspecting to be a possible problem due to my not as strict dietary habits as of late.

5)Functional foods- consuming foods on a regular basis that promote the detoxification process just to make it that much easier for my body to optimize faster.

 

Today’s breakfast was a green smoothie. I used almond milk, 1 scoop of vanilla Raw Fit protein, 1 banana, 1 scoop of greens powder, 1 Tbs of spirulina powder, 2 tbs of flax seed meal/chia seed mix, a healthy squirt of omega 3 emulsified oil, and a spoon full of peanut butter that has coconut oil in it. Honestly, it’s delicious and keeping me full throughout the morning. Sure…it’s dark green and probably scary looking to others but it’s for my health!

During a normal detox process you are supposed to rest to allow your body’s energy to focus on cleaning and healing, but I plan on going home tonight and walking for at least 30 minutes on the treadmill. I need to get back into a healthy routine all around, why wait is my theory!

Happy 13th Birthday Tranquility! September 5, 2013

Happy Birthday Tranquility! 13 years of growth from a one-woman show to a house of many! On September 5, 2000, Beverly Miller, Esthetician, opened the doors to Tranquility Skin & Body Care at the Stone House in downtown St. Charles, IL.  “I was everyone- receptionist, esthetician and cleaning lady,” stated Beverly.  By 2003, Tranquility moved into a larger space to accommodate the growing staff  of another esthetician, a nail tech and a general manager/business partner, Loreta Lescelius.

Now known as Tranquility Spa and Wellness Center, Beverly’s vision has continued to expand into the present 4000 square-foot space at 113 N. Swedish massage is one of the most effective massage therapy modalities. It involves a deep tissue massage applied with gentle and vigorous pressure. Think of this method as a wonderful combination of massage and physical therapy, a process that promotes total relaxation and muscle tension release.

Take note that proper Swedish massage therapy should only be performed by a licensed massage therapist. If you are new to experiencing this technique and don’t know what to expect, put your mind at ease and check to see if the spa or massage clinic you’re planning to visit is staffed with a licensed, registered practitioner.

Swedish Massage Therapy: How is it Done?

Prior to the start of the massage treatment, the therapist will ask you about any history of previous physical injuries. The main purpose of this is so the therapist can take special care to prevent further damage and assist in the healing process to tissues surrounding injured areas.

Like many other massage therapies, Swedish massage involves the use of oil which is applied to the skin to help the massage therapist’s hands glide over the body without friction, and to help the soothing, even pressure penetrate deep into the muscles.

After the gentle application of the oil, the therapist will begin the massage. You have the option to choose whether you want the massage to be relatively gentle or done with more intensive pressure. Don’t be afraid to ask your therapist to lessen or increase the pressure applied, in accordance with your own tolerance and level of comfort.
